Minister Grabar-Kitarović meets Macedonian President Crvenkovski, Parliament Speaker Georgijevski, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Foreign Assistance Konevska-Trajkovska and representatives of the Croatian community in Macedonia
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović separately met with President of the Republic of Macedonia Branko Crvenkovski, Macedonian Parliament Speaker Ljubiša Georgijevski, Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Foreign Assistance Gabriela Konevska-Trajkovska and Croatian community representatives, in Skopje on Wednesday, 24 January 2007, during her official visit to the Republic of Macedonia
Meeting with the Parliament Speaker Georgijevski, Minister Grabar-Kitarović welcomed the founding of the Parliamentary Group for Co-operation with the Croatian Parliament, which will further contribute to better parliamentary co-operation between the countries. The conversation focused on the subject of co-operation in the process of Euro Atlantic integration, a goal shared by both countries.
Conversation with Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Foreign Assistance Gabriela Konevska-Trajkovska focused on issues related to European integration, and experience and opinions were exchanged on economic activities as well as on modifications in the field of economy as part of the process of joining the EU.
During the second day of the official visit to the Republic of Macedonia, Minister Grabar-Kitarović also met with the representatives of the Croatian community in Macedonia. Regarding the position of Croats in Macedonia, Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed the representatives on the beginning of the process for the signing of the bilateral agreement on protecting Croatian minority rights in Macedonia, and asserted that she had notified the highest-ranking Macedonian state officials on the initiative.
