Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration met on Thursday, 9 July 2009, with State Minister and Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Turkey Egemen Bagis on the sidelines of “Croatia Summit 2009” in Dubrovnik.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration met on Thursday, 9 July 2009, with State Minister and Chief Negotiator of the Republic of Turkey Egemen Bagis on the sidelines of “Croatia Summit 2009” in Dubrovnik. The collocutors described the bilateral relations between the two states as very good and friendly, pointing out numerous possibilities for further co-operation. They also exchanged the information concerning the current developments in negotiation processes for full membership of the European Union of both countries. In this sense, both sides confirmed the standpoint that bilateral issues should be separated from the accession negotiations. The Ministers also talked about the possibility to improve economic co-operation and it was pointed out that Turkish investors showed interest in investing in Croatia. Situation in the South East European region and the importance of regional co-operation was also discussed at the meeting. To this effect, Minister Bagis said that the now traditional “Croatia Summit” sent an important message to the entire region.
