Mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandic, an official delegation of the city of Zagreb was staying in Ankara on 26th and 27th of October 2008., at the invitation of Mayor of Ankara, Melih Gökçek. In the official delegation were: Mayor Bandic with his spouse, President of the City Assembly, Tatjana Holjevac, Head of City Office for Education, Culture and Sport, Jelena Pavicic Vukicevic, and member of the City Government, Duško Ljuština. The delegation was accompanied by: expert advisor to the Department for Intercity and International Cooperation and EU Integration, Vesna šimic, Expert Advisor of City Office for Education, Culture and Sport, Katarina Milkovic and Expert of City Office for Education, Culture and Sport, Ivana Mihaljinec.
During the visit, the Mayors of Zagreb and Ankare, Milan Bandic and Melih Gökçek have signed an Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation between the capitals of Croatia and Turkey, which mainly focus on cooperation in the field of public transportation, city planning, environmental protection, health care system, protection from fire and social projects.
In accordance with the Agreement, experts from mentioned fields will exchange experiences and visits, city councils will encourage and logistically support cooperation between commerce and industrial chambers, and Zagreb and Ankara will cooperate in the field of culture and sport.
The Mayors agreed that Zagreb will present itself to Ankara within the manifestation "Days of Zagreb".
Mayor also visited the Hacettepe University, where the delegation of Zagreb attended opening of exhibition of photographs of Zagreb by Ive Pervan, which Mayor Bandic opened. The exhibition was organizes by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ankara.
