Minister of Defence of the Republic of Croatia Branko Vukelic met the Chief of the General Staff of Turkish Armed Forces General Ilker Basbug on November 23, 2008.
Minister Vukelic and General Basbug agreed that forthcoming Croatia's joining to NATO was very important for Croatia but also for countries in the region.
Minister of Defence Branko Vukelic and Chief of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces General Ilker Basbug agreed that forthcoming Croatia's joining to NATO was very important for Croatia but also for countries in the region.
General Basbugu welcomed forthcoming Croatia's joining NATO and expressed his hope that soon Croatian officer would take over their duties in NATO commands, including the one in Turkey, in Izmir. During the visit, Minister Vukelic also met the Undersecretary for Turkish Defence Industry Murad Bayar, where both sides expressed their whish for development of military-technical cooperation between the two countries. Minister Vukelic also welcomed invitation of Turkey for participation of the Croatian military industry representatives on the Expo of weaponry and military equipment next year in Istanbul. Croatian Minister of Defence also visited Tay Company, and was expected to visit Aselsan Company which produced optoelectronic systems.
