Prime Minister, dr. Ivo Sanader, meet today with President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, at the fringes of 63rd session of the UN General Assembly held in New York. During the meeting the joint evaluation was that Croatia and Turkey are developing good and friendly relations, which can be further advanced at the field of economical cooperation. In that regard, Prime Minister and Turkish President agreed that a meeting of joint economical committee will further stimulate bilateral cooperation.

At the meeting the topic of the enlargement of EU was also discussed, as was the soon joining of the Republic of Croatia to the NATO. In regard of that, President Gul announced that the ratification of the Protocol will come to the agenda at the beginning of autumn session of Turkish Parliament.
As a candidate for non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Turkish side was interested for the experience that Croatian side made in working with the UN Security Council. President Gul thanked for Croatian support to the Turkish candidacy.
Prime Minster and Turkish President have also discussed the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the general situation in the Southeast Europe. They concluded that both countries are very much interested in permanent political stability in their neighborhood, while the Croatian Prime Minister emphasized that without equality of Croatian people within Bosnia and Herzegovina there will be no stability in that country. Turkish side again extended an invitation to Prime Minister Sanader for soon visit to Turkey, which the Prime Minister happily accepted.
