In the last month, Croatian citizens and companies donated HRK 1,033,077 for children and families in Myanmar who were affected by the cyclone Nargis in early May.
According to the latest figures released by the United Nations, Nargis, which hit the densely populated Irrawaddy delta on May 2, left 78,000 people dead, and 56,000 are still missing.
In the area affected by the cyclone there are 2.4 million people, with 194,000 children up to five years of age.
Responding to a fund-raising campaign launched by UNICEF, citizens and companies in Croatia collected more than one million kuna for Myanmar's children, according to the Croatian office of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund).
