Croatian Finance Minister Ivan Suker toured the New York Stock Exchange today and met with NYSE President Catherine Kinney and Executive Vice President of the NYSE’s Global Corporate Client Group, Noreen Culhane.
Minister Suker provided the NYSE management with a brief overview of Croatia’s economic outlook and highlighted the fact that Croatia is nearing the end of its privatization process. He mentioned that many of Croatia’s most valuable companies, including those in the energy and insurance sectors, have not yet been fully privatized.
Ms. Culhane said that developing economies are of particular interest to the New York Stock Exchange and emphasized that there are some 2,700 companies trading on the NYSE, of which 460 are international companies coming from 47 different countries.
“We’re missing Croatia on our list,” she told Minister Suker. “As you consider your plans for Croatia, we are ready to be a good partner.”
While on the trading floor, Minister Suker also spoke with NYSE Chairman Marsh Carter. Included in the minister’s delegation was Martina Dalic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance; Ana Hrastovic, Assistant Minister of Finace; Hrvoje Radovanic, Assistant Minister of Finance and Ivan Nimac, Deputy Permanent Representative and Charge d’Affaires at the Croatian Mission to the UN.
