Presentation of the first Modern-Greek Croatian Dictionary

The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Greece and the Organisation for the Promotion of the Greek Language (ODEG) jointly organised a presentation of the first Modern-Greek Croatian Dictionary, compiled by the Croatian philologist Koraljka Crnkovic. The presentation took place on 21 February, at the Stoa Vivliou, in downtown Athens. The presentation began with welcome speeches by H.E. Ivan Velimir Starcevic, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia and by Mr. Konstantinos Karkanias, President of ODEG. The Dictionary was presented by renowned Greek linguists and University Professors Panagioitis Asimopoulos and Hristoforos Haralambakis, as well as by the author Koraljka Crnkovic. The presentation was chaired by Mr. Aleksandar Sunko, Minister Counsellor at the Croatian Embassy. Within the musical part of the programme, the Croatian guitarist Mislav Režic gave a recital of works by Croatian composers Ivo Josipovic and Boris Papandopulo. The public turnout was above expectation. About two hundred people turned up, mostly linguists, writers, artists, diplomats, representatives of state institutions and members of the Croatian community in Greece. All of the exemplary copies of the Dictionary were sold out. Following the presentation, a reception was organised by the Embassy.
