Interparliamentary Conference

Mr. Davor Božinovic, Ph.D., chairperson of the Interparliamentary Co-operation Committee of the Croatian Parliament, and Mr. Tomislav Ivic, chairperson of the Defence Committee, attended the Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU Member States and candidates, held in Athens on 3 and 4 April 2014. For the first time, a joint meeting of Heads of Delegations from the southern EU-members (Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain) was held. The Delegations exchanged views on the current situation in the Southern Neighbourhood. At the meeting with High Representative Catherine Ashton, views on developments in Ukraine, Syria, Middle East and Africa were exchanged. The infringement of the territorial integrity of Ukraine was denounced. Mr. Božinovic underlined the need for the EU to be more actively involved in resolving the deadlock regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina"s path towards European integration.
