Bach, Croatian and Canadian composers The Canadian tour is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of The Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Foreign Affaires and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian Embassy in Ottawa and the Croatian General Consulate in Mississauga. The concert in Montreal is organized with the collaboration of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in Monteral and AMCA Quebec. Zagreb Guitar Quartet was founded in 1990 as an experienced ensemble of young musicians whose work has greatly contributed to the recognition of the quality of the Croatian guitar within the European scene. The Quartet has given a multitude of concerts in Croatia and worldwide including the Austrian Parliament in Vienna, Pontificio instituto di musica sacra in Rome, Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi, Teatro Verdi in Trieste and Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow. For the occasion of their Canadian tour, the Quartet will perform a carefully chosen program including a selection of contrapuncti from Johann Sebastian Bach's The Art of the Fugue. The Zagreb Quartet gave the world's premiere of this Bach masterpiece arranged for four guitars and received a rave review from the editor, Colin Cooper of the well-known Classical Guitar magazine, who remarked “one of the most extraordinary and vivid guitar experience I can remember”.
