Statehood Day ceremony in Pretoria

Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Pretoria on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in the social premises of the Croatian Catholic Mission of St. Jerome in Johannesburg, a ceremony was held to mark the Statehood Day with a festive lunch for the Croatian expatriate community in the Republic of South Africa. The celebration of the Statehood Day began with a solemn Mass for the Homeland led by Monsignor Dario Paviša, Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature in the Republic of South Africa, a native of Kalinovac and the pastor Dr. Sc. Fra  Miron Sikirić. An extremely large number of Croatian emigrants (220) attended this event, and this type of celebration with a festive lunch was organized for the first time under the auspices of the Croatian Embassy in Pretoria.
In an appropriate address by Ambassador Mr Ante Cicvarić reminded of the long and tormented journey that the Republic of Croatia has gone through in order to achieve its long-desired sovereignty and independence, and especially welcomed the new members who received Croatian citizenship this year.
