The best Croatian marathon swimmer, Dina Levačić, has written new pages for Croatian distance swimming. Despite very challenging weather conditions, big waves, and wind, in just over 11 hours she swam the 33-kilometer-long route from Miller's Point to Rooi Elsa in the Republic of South Africa, the famous False Bay, the largest natural bay in South Africa and one of the largest in the world with an area of over 1,000 km2. By successfully swimming, Dina Levačić became the 12th person to do so, the fourth woman, and the first person from Croatia.

After False Bay, Dina Levačić successfully overcame her second major challenge on February 14, the southernmost point of the Cape Peninsula, known as Cape Point, which was slightly shorter, about 8 kilometers. The weather in that part is quite unpredictable, there are strong currents and you can swim only a few days a year, and it took her a little more than two hours to master this swimming route.
Dina Levečić's last challenge remains, if the weather conditions permit, swimming from Robben Island to the coast in a length of 11 km. This island has great historical and political significance for most South Africans because it is also known as the island where Nelson Mandela was once imprisoned.

Dina Levačić was chosen as the best open water swimmer in 2023 according to the International Swimming Organization and announced that upon her return to Croatia, she will undertake the challenge of swimming around 104 islands, islets, and rocks in Dalmatia. During his stay in Cape Town, where he attended the opening of the parliamentary season (SONA), Ambassador Ante Cicvarić met with Dina Levačić on Saturday, February 10, and congratulated her on these achievements.
