Japan is the Partner Country of the 48th Varaždin Baroque Evenings

Press Conference and the Presentation of the Varaždin Baroque Evenings was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Tokyo on 19 April 2018 for the Japanese media and representative of cultural institutions. The 48th Varaždin Baroque Evenings will be held between 21 September and 3 October 2018 under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Croatia and with motto “More than Music”. It is one of the most prominent and largest music festival specializing in early music in Europe, and one of the 4 cultural festival of national importance, as designated by the Croatian Government. Participation of Japan as Country Partner is an important contribution of the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between Croatia and Japan. Croatian Ambassador to Japan Dražen Hrastic and Mayor of Varaždin City Ivan Cehok welcomed the guests, and gave short introuctions to Croatia and Varaždin. Director of the Concert Agency Varaždin Raymond Rojnik presented the programme of the festival which consist of 30 concerts performed by several hundred musicians for the expected audience of 10.000 music lovers. In this year’s edition of the festival Japanese artists will have a prominent role, for example members of Hidemi Suzuki’s Orchestra Libera Classica, Masato Suzuki and the Bach Collegium Japan and th choir La Fonteverde. In a short musical piece at the Event, Japanese violinist Madoka Sato performed accompanied by Hiroko Sato on Piano.
