EU Presidency Handover Ceremony and Reception

With the aim of marking and celebrating the end of the Finnish Presidency and the start of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU, an EU Presidency handover ceremony and reception were held at the Embassy of Finland in Japan on 9 January 2020. Following opening remarks delivered by the Finnish Ambassador Pekka Orpana, the Croatian Ambassador Dražen Hrastic, the EU Ambassador Patricia Flor and Parliamentary Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Nakayama Norihiro, Ambassador Orpana handed over to Ambassador Hrastic an EU flag symbolically marking the end of the Finnish Presidency and the begging of the Croatian EU Presidency. The reception was attended by a number of Japanese officials, businessmen representatives of diplomatic community and media who had the opportunity to taste and enjoy a variety of Finnish dishes and a selection of premium quality Croatian wines offered on that occasion.
