On September 29, 2020, Ambassador Hrastic met with Mr. Takeshi Kunibe, Chairman of the Board of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) and Chairman of the Operating Committee for the 28th EU-Japan Fest, a foundation that supports cultural cooperation between Japan and European Capitals of Culture. Ambassador Hrastic and Chairman Kunibe discussed the continuation of cooperation and support for Rijeka ECoC 2020 and future European Capitals of Culture, as well as possible economic cooperation, taking into account that the SMBC Group is a major investor in the European Union.
