The exhibition consists of more then forty posters depicting six localities within Croatia that are listed on UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. The exhibition is organized to mark nomination of the city of Damascus as the Arab cultural capital for 2008. The exhibition ‘Croatia World Heritage' is hosted in the historic core of the city of Damascus, which is well known to be the most ancient continuously inhabited capital city in the world, in the house Beit Alnur (The House of Light) which is historical monument by itself. Croatian citizen Ms. Mirjana Tomasic bought the ruin of the Beit Alnur house in the year 2000 and has restored it to its full glory through the restoration process that took four years to be completed. The restoration was conducted by applying the processes and materials used at the time of the building of the last faze of the building at the Mammeluc period in twelfth century. The basement of the house however was built in the third century BC. In this way the exhibition embraces historic heritage of both Croatia and Syria, aiming to further cultural and economical cooperation between the two countries. The exhibition was sponsored by Croatian oil company INA which is conducting successful oil research in Syria. The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia in Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Nissan Khouchaba was the most prominent amongst the organizers of the event.
