The group Exibition of photographs entitled “ Croatian Lighthouses” was opened Thursday, June 15, 2006 under the auspices of the Egyptian minister of culture, Mr. Farouq Hosni, in the heart of the City of Cairo, in Horizon One Gallery.
In the presence of many guests, the exhibition was opened by Croatian Ambassador in Egypt, H.E. Mr. Dražen Margeta and Mr. Mohsen Shaalan, Head of Fine Arts Sector of the Ministry of Culture of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The aim of the exhibition is to pay the attention to the beauty of the Croatian Lighthouses and to call the attention to the problem of preservation of lighthouses, their renewal in accordance with the highest standards of the protection of cultural and historical heritage. Under the auspices of the Ministry of See, Tourism, Transportation and Development of the Republic of Croatia, the exhibition was organized by non-governmental organization Plovput Society, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia, Egyptian Ministry of Culture and Croatian Embassy in Cairo.
The opening was attended by eminent Egyptian artists, high officials of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, foreign ambassadors and diplomats and representatives of the media. The Exhibition promotes Croatia as the tourist country with extraordinary natural environment and historical heritage.
The opening of the Exhibition was the beginning of the celebration of the 15 years of the independence of the Republic of Croatia and the National Day of the Republic of Croatia in Egypt.
The Exhibition will be hosted by Bibliotheca Alexandrina in July 2006.
