During his vist to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Croatia H. E. Mr. Ivan šuker called on Egyptian Minister for Oil H. E. Amin Sameh Samir Fahmy. The meeting was conducted in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. Ministers Fahmy and šuker expressed satisfaction with the results Croatian oil company INA achieved in exploration and exploitation of oil in Egypt.

Ministers Fahmy and šuker expressed satisfaction with the results Croatian oil company INA achieved in exploration and exploitation of oil in Egypt.
INA has recently discovered considerable resources of oil in the site East Yidma in the Western Desert that is given in concession to INA. Egyptian minister pledged to provide all the necessary support so that the site could be in full production by the end of this year. President Mubarak was also informed of success of the Croatian entrepreneurs and he expressed his satisfaction over this successful joint Croatian – Egyptian cooperation.
Minister šuker informed his host about the current status of the negotiation for full integration of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union and has also expressed Croatian interest for expending the bilateral relations between Croatia and Egypt. He specially mentioned the port of Rijeka which is ideally situated and equipped for handling the Egyptian goods exported to the European markets; he noted the possibilities for transport of Egyptian LNG towards Europe and usage of Croatian refineries in joint efforts for entering the third markets.
