Reception celebrating Croatian Independence Day was held on October 14 2008 at the Four Seasons hotel in Cairo. Representatives of ministries of foreign affairs, culture, defense, transport and health of the Arab Republic of Egypt were among several hundreds of dignitaries that attended the reception. More then sixty heads of foreign mission as well as personalities from Egyptian public life and establishment were present.

Representatives of ministries of foreign affairs, culture, defense, transport and health of the Arab Republic of Egypt were among several hundreds of dignitaries that attended the reception. More then sixty heads of foreign mission as well as personalities from Egyptian public life and establishment were present.
Many Croatian citizens working or residing in Cairo and Alexandria attended the reception, notably employees of Croatian companies present in Egypt oil and gas sector (INA-Naftaplin, Crosco and Geofizika). These three companies also sponsored the reception. The reception was at the same time an excellent opportunity for promotion of Croatian tourism, so in the course of the evening Croatian tourist films were screened and Croatian Tourist Board publication was distributed to the attendees.
