Commemorating the All Saints Day, delegation of Croatian Embassy in Cairo visited on 31st of October 2006 the Croatian World War II refugee graveyard in El-Shatt. Flowers have been offered and a minute of silence observed for the ones that succumbed to the harsh conditions present in the El-Shatt refugee camp that sheltered a number of Croatians, mostly from Dalmatia, evacuated in 1943 and 1945 from atrocities of the of World War II. Some 820 Croatian refugees were buried in El-Shatt, situated 160 km from Cairo.
