El Shatt – A Croatian Camp in the Sinai Desert, Egypt 1944 to 1946 is an exhibition within the framework of the large historic World War II theme. Through very rich museum holdings, some of which were borrowed from other Croatian museums for this exhibition, visitors can be able to familiarize themselves with life in the refugee camps in the El Shatt and El Khatabe areas in Egypt which were homes to over 30 thousand evacuees from Croatia between February 1944 and March 1946. The exhibit features more than 900 museum artifacts grouped into three different thematic units and offers insight into life in the refugee camps. It focuses primarily on the perspective of an ordinary person rather than on the then prevailing political, military or diplomatic relations between the various sides. The exhibition contents the original photos, printed matter, everyday objects, art works, children's works, and the testimonies of the many eyewitnesses and camp inmates.
Also, the Croatian Delegation commemorated Croatian Word War II victims buried at Croatian Refugees Cemetery in El Shatt, paid respect with a minute of silence. After El Shatt, the delegation from the Croatian History Museum met Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia at his Residence.
