State visit of President Hu Jintao to Croatia
President of the People's Republic of China Mr. Hu. Jintao paid an official visit to Croatia on 19 and 20 June 2009. Besides his host, President of the Republic of Croatia Mr. Stjepan Mesić, he met with the President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia Dr. Ivo Sanader and the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Mr. Luka Bebić. This was the first visit ever by a Chinese president to Croatia and, at the same time, to one of the successor States of the former Yugoslavia.

The official visit began with the Croatian Chinese Business Forum, that in itself speaks about the importance that the two presidents have assigned to economic cooperation. Forum was attended by some 250 Chinese business people who had accompanied President Hu Jintao and about 200 Croatian firms.
