Delegation headed by the Mayor of Dubrovnik visited Beijing and Sanya
Delegation headed by the Mayor of Dubrovnik Mr. Andro Vlahušić and Chairman of the City Council of the City of Dubrovnik Mrs. Olga Muratti, visited Beijing and Sanya in the period of 21 to 26 November 2012. Ambassador prof. dr. sc. Ante Simonic joined the delegation in Sanya and participated in official institution visit.
Delegation headed by the Mayor of Dubrovnik Mr. Andro Vlahušić and Chairman of the City Council of the City of Dubrovnik Mrs. Olga Muratti, visited Beijing and Sanya in the period of 21 to 26 November 2012. Ambassador prof. dr. sc. Ante Simonic joined the delegation in Sanya and participated in official institution visit.
The idea of developing a partnership between the Chinese City of Sanya and Dubrovnik arises during the official visit of Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, Mr. Wu Bangguo to Dubrovnik in May 2012., which resulted in the meeting of the mayors of Dubrovnik and Sanya.
Mayor of Sanya Mr.Wang Yong, Chairman of the City Council Mr. Chen Xiaoya along with Mayor Vlahušić signed on November 24th Letter of intent on the establishment of sister city relationship between Dubrovnik City and Sanya and establish connections in the field of tourism, culture, education, science and trade.
The City of Sanya has 680 000 inhabitants and modern Chinese resort that attracts tens of millions of tourists a year in which there are the world's largest hotel brands. During his stay in Sanya, Croatian delegation held a meeting with the director of marketing and sales of the Hainan Airlines Mr. Luo Ming and executive director of the Sanya airport Mr.Meng Qian. Hainan Airlines is the biggest travel agency and third Air Company in PRC.
Meeting participants expressed interest in connecting China and Dubrovnik by direct connection flight.

The goal is to establish a direct connection flight between Croatia and China, afterward Dubrovnik and Beijing (or Shanghai), which will present an entry gate to Southeastern Europe for an increasing number of Chinese tourists visiting Europe.
