Inauguration of the Exhibit by Lily Garafulic

Last night at the Embassy, we inaugurated the exhibit by Lily Garafulic which includes a series of drawings, prints, watercolors and sculptures. The event, organized jointly by the Chilean Embassy, the Croatian Hour and Garafulic Family included also a special showing of the documentary “Lily Garafulic: In her own worlds". The event brought together members of the Croatian and Chilean community in Washington, D.C. Lily Garafulic (1914-­2012), was a Chilean sculptress, visual artist and curator of Croatian descent. Her parents and five older siblings arrived in Chile in the early 1900’s from Nerežišca on the island of Brac. The family settled in Antofagasta in the North of Chile where the Croatian community thrived and have made and continue to make important and lasting contributions to Chilean society.
