Ambassador Neven Jurica Presents His Letter of Credence to Mexican President Vicente Fox Quesada
Croatian Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Neven Jurica, who is also accredited as ambassador to Mexico, presented his letter of credence today to Mexican President Vicente Fox Quesada, at the Presidential Residence Los Pinos in Mexico City.
Ambassador Jurica forwarded Croatian President Stjepan Mesic´s and Prime Minister Dr. Ivo Sanader´s best regards to President Fox, stressing the positive and friendly relations between the two countries. Ambassador Jurica briefed President Fox on Croatia´s policy in relation to the EU and NATO. He outlined Croatia´s role in Southeast Europe, as a country which serves as an example to others in the region, while providing assistance to its neighbors, because of its status as a EU and NATO candidate-country with highly developed democratic standards. In stressing the distinguished role of Croatia in Southeast Europe, Ambassador Jurica noted that Mexico, as a Latin-American country that has reached special bilateral agreements with the EU, can develop stronger relations with the whole of Southeast Europe by way of Croatia. The Croatian Ambassador highlighted a need for the further strengthening of relations between the two countries in the economic and tourism sectors.
President Fox expressed his appreciation for the felicitations relayed to him by Ambassador Jurica, and noted the important role that Croatia has in its region of Europe. The Mexican President expressed his satisfaction with the friendly relations between the two countries, as well as his support for Croatia´s progress toward Euro-Atlantic integration. He voiced his readiness for an even stronger intensification of bilateral relations between Mexico and Croatia, saying that many areas for advancing relations between the two countries remain open.
