Ivica Prtenjača presented the English translation of his awarded novel

On Thursday, October 12, 2023 the book  "Let's Go Home, Son"  by Croatian author Mr Ivica Prtenjača was presented at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in London. It is an English translation of his book "Sine, idemo kući"  for which he won the V.B.Z. Award for Best Unpublished Novel in 2021, and the Vladimir Nazor Award a year later.

In this novel Mr Prtenjača deals with loss, short-lived hope and memory and, as he confirmed to the  audience, the book is based on the events from his life.

The presentation was led by Mr Michael Tate from Jantar Publishing, who also wrote a review of the book for the „Los Angeles Review of Books“.

Let’s Go Home, Son is a compelling short novel, a novel of truths already learned but unrealized, and David Williams’s translation of it is a marvel. The characters are sketched rather than painted, and the prose is pithy rather than beautiful, but the overall effect is powerful. In fact, like life itself, the novel doesn’t really end, in any conventional sense. - Tate wrote in his review.

The book was published in the UK by Istros Books.

The guests at the Croatian Embassy were greeted by the Charge d'Affaires, Mr Davor Ljubanović.

During his stay in the United Kingdom, Ivica Prtenjača also participated in the Cheltenham Literary Festival 2023.
