Thinking of travelling to Croatia?

Passengers, regardless of their citizenship, arriving from the ECDC “Green List” region, or from a country listed on the so-called EU “Safe list”, who can prove that they haven’t spent any time outside of those Green/Safe regions while travelling to Croatia (except for transit), have no symptoms or have not had close contacts with infected persons are allowed to enter Croatia without any limitations.

Citizens of the EU/EEA (EU 27 + Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, as well as Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and the Vatican and including Croatian citizens), members of their families and non-EU citizens with an EU residence permit are allowed to enter Croatia no matter where they come from and are not required to provide a reason, but need to have either of the following:

1. a negative viral test result: PCR not older than 72 hours or rapid antigen test (list of acceptable antigen tests) not older than 48 hours (counting from the time of taking the test to arriving at the border crossing point);
2. a certificate of vaccination showing they’ve received both doses of the vaccines available in the EU (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Gamaleya, Sinopharm), or one dose of the Johnson&Johnson vaccine more than 14 days ago;
3. a certificate of vaccination showing that they’ve received the first dose of the Pfizer, Moderna or Gamaleya vaccine in the last 22-42 days, or one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the last 22-84 days;
4. a certificate showing that they’ve recovered from COVID-19 and have received at least one dose of any vaccine (less than 180 days before attempting entry);
5. proof of recovery from COVID-19: 1) a medical certificate or 2) a positive PCR or rapid antigen test performed in the last 12-180 days.
6. perform PCR testing or rapid antigen testing immediately upon arrival to Croatia (at the traveller’s own expense), with the obligation to stay in self-isolation until receiving a negative test result. If testing cannot be performed, passengers must self-isolate for a period of 10 days.

The same rule is applied to the non-EU citizens travelling to Croatia from an EU/EEA region.

Non-EU citizens travelling to Croatia from anywhere else (except for the countries listed in the next bullet) will be allowed entry in Croatia for tourist purposes. In order to do so, they need to have a certificate of paid accommodation in a hotel, camp, rented vessel and other form of tourist accommodation, or show evidence that they own a property in Croatia. At the border, they will also have to show one of the 5 proofs, as listed above. Please note that the point 3 does not apply to non – EU citizens arriving to Croatia from third countries. Non – EU citizens travelling to Croatia from third countries for urgent personal/family reasons or business, as well as digital nomads, will be also allowed entry to Croatia if they present credible documentation upon entering Croatia in order to prove the reason for the exemption and if they show one of the 5 proofs, as listed above. As previously mentioned, the point 3 does not apply to non – EU citizens travelling to Croatia from third countries. Travellers arriving in Croatia from Brasil, Tanzania (Zanzibar), India and South Africa are required to provide a negative PCR test not older than 48 hours and they need to self-isolate for 14 days (or have their self-isolation shortened if they pay for another test, at least 7 days after they’ve entered Croatia), no matter what their citizenship is. Please not that this entry requirement applies to both EU / EEA citizens and third-country nationals.

A few things to note...

Children under the age of 12 don’t need to have a negative test to enter Croatia. That applies to those children whose parents/guardians fulfil the entry requirements.

All tests taken and used as supporting evidence of a positive or negative result must be recognized by European Union.
