Secondary School Students’ Model Council of the European Union (MOC) Debate, Dublin, Ireland

The European Commission Representation in Ireland organized the 9th Model Council of the European Union Debate for the secondary school students from around Ireland in Dublin Castle on Tuesday 1st March 2016. Each of the twenty-eight schools took the part of a different EU Member State to play a role being the Council of the European Union. They debated the EU"s response to the largest flood of refugees since the Second World War. Each participating school adopted the “real life” position of the assigned Member State. The winning school gets the prize of a "Euroscola" visit for their class to the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Croatia was presented by three students from St Paul"s Secondary School, Monasterevin, Co. Kildare. The embassy delegation attended this debate, and Mr. Ivan Mašina, the Croatian Ambassador to Ireland, met the team and presented students with the materials on Croatia and souvenirs.
