Following an invitation by the Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann, Seán Barrett T.D., the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Luka Bebic came for an official visit to Ireland from 7th until the 9th September 2011. He was accompanied by a parliamentary delegation comprising the president of the National committee for monitoring of accession negotiations of Croatia with the European Union, Ms Vesna Pusic and Croatian Parliament deputies, Mr Mirando Mrsic and Mr Jerko Rošin

Following an invitation by the Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann, Seán Barrett T.D., the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Luka Bebic came for an official visit to Ireland from 7th until the 9th September 2011. He was accompanied by a parliamentary delegation comprising the president of the National committee for monitoring of accession negotiations of Croatia with the European Union, Ms Vesna Pusic and Croatian Parliament deputies, Mr Mirando Mrsic and Mr Jerko Rošin. On September 8th 2011, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Luka Bebic and the delegation met with the Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann, Seán Barrett T.D. During the meeting the completion of the accession process of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, the imminent signing of the Accession Treaty of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union and its subsequent ratification by all EU member states was discussed. Additionally, political and economic relations as well as interparliamentary cooperation between Ireland and Croatia were discussed. Having congratulated Croatia on the completion of its accession negotiations with the European Union, Ceann Comhairle emphasised Ireland's support to Croatian full membership of the European Union in July 2013. On the same day, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Luka Bebic and the delegation met with the president of Ireland, Mrs Mary McAleese. Having congratulated Croatia on the completion of its accession negotiations with the European Union, the president of Ireland, Mrs Mary McAleese emphasised Ireland's support of Croatia's eurointegration path from its very beginning and also expressed satisfaction with the fact that, in addition to the existing excellent bilateral relations, upon Croatia's accession to the EU, Ireland and Croatia would become partners. She conveyed a message to all Croatian citizens that EU membership is an excellent opportunity for Croatian identity and culture to be represented on a larger European stage. On September 9th 2011, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Mr Luka Bebic and the delegation met with the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Eamon Gilmore, T.D., thereby completing their two-day official visit to Ireland. Tánaiste Gilmore emphasised Ireland's support of Croatia's eurointegration path from its beginning, throughout its striving towards reforms enforcement and fulfilment of very demanding benchmarks and stressed that Ireland would, very quickly upon the signing of the Accession Treaty of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, commence with the process of its ratification. He also expressed his belief that the Croatian accession to the European Union would have a very positive and simulative effect on all countries of the region.
