The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to Ireland Mr Gerard Danaher opened the exhibition of renowned Croatian artist Ljerka Njers at the Oscar Wilde House on Tuesday, 24 May 2005. She is exhibiting for the first time in Ireland and the works include paintings, clayprints and prints.
The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to Ireland Mr Gerard Danaher opened the exhibition of renowned Croatian artist Ljerka Njers at the Oscar Wilde House. She is exhibiting for the first time in Ireland and the works include paintings, clayprints and prints.
The exhibition opening attracted a lot of interest from the audience, which included US Ambassador John C. Kenny, as well as ambassadors of China, Hungary, Bulgaria and Cyprus, members of the diplomatic corps and Dublin cultural milieu. During the opening the audience enjoyed the short film on her work by the Croatian director Ernest Gregl entitled «The art of Clay and Fire».
As one of the most distinguished Croatian artists, Ljerka Njerš graduated from the Ceramic Section of the School of Applied Arts in Zagreb in 1955 and continued to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, also in Zagreb. Since then she has been a professional artist and has been regularly exhibiting at numerous ceramic art shows in both Croatia and abroad. She had more than 80 solo exhibitions.
The exhibition will be opened until 3 June 2005 (weekdays from 10 am to 4 pm).
