On Monday, January 13, 2025, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, representing the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, participated in the celebration of the Day of the Croatian People in Montenegro.

This date was chosen to commemorate the Day of the Croatian People in Montenegro in honour of the day in 809 AD when the relics of St. Tryphon were transferred from Constantinople to Kotor. The program began with a solemn Mass for the Homeland and the Croatian people in Montenegro, held at the Cathedral of St. Tryphon in Kotor.

Organized by the Croatian National Council of Montenegro, a formal academy was held in Tivat, accompanied by an artistic and cultural program. During the event, Grlić Radman addressed the attendees, expressing his satisfaction at participating in this significant day for Croats in Montenegro. He emphasized that the event serves as a reminder of the unwavering strength and unity of the Croatian community throughout history, as well as the importance of preserving Croatian heritage and identity in Montenegro. He noted that every moment of the celebration, from the holy Mass at St. Tryphon’s Cathedral to the formal academy and cultural program, was filled with pride, solidarity, and a strong sense of belonging.

In his address, Grlić Radman extended special thanks to the Croatian National Council of Montenegro and all members of the Croatian community for their dedication to preserving Croatian traditions and identity. “Croatia will, as always, stand by you, support your rights, and work on even stronger connections between our homeland and Croats abroad,” said the minister.

During his visit to Montenegro, Grlić Radman also toured the training ship Jadran in Bar, expressing hope that this marks the first step in its return to its home port of Split after 34 years.
