Croatia is a reliable partner to Germany within the EU and NATO, Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordan Grlić-Radman stated on Tuesday at the military academy in Hamburg, on 9 December 2025.

“The Republic of Croatia remains a dependable partner to Germany within the European Union and NATO, with the aim of promoting lasting stability and prosperity in Southeast Europe, particularly through the EU enlargement process,” Grlić-Radman said in his address at the academy, where officers of the German armed forces are trained.

He underscored the strategic importance of Southeast Europe for the European and transatlantic security architecture, emphasizing that the stability of the region is inseparably linked to the stability of Europe as a whole.

Earlier, Grlić-Radman - together with the Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Hamburg, Kristijan Tušek - met with representatives of the Croatian community in Hamburg and northern Germany.

The Croatian foreign minister is part of the delegation accompanying Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, who is on a two-day working visit to Germany, during which he will meet German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Wednesday.
