Croatian Vocal Lyricism Presented to London Audience

A concert Croatian Vocal Lyricism of the 19th and 20th Centuries was held in London on 1 December 2025, organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in London.

The concert featured soprano Ivana Lazar, guitarist István Römer and musicologist and narrator Dr Zdenka Weber. It took place in the Princess Alexandra Hall at Six Park Place, part of the Royal Over-Seas League, located in the St James’s district in the very heart of London.

The audience included members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the United Kingdom, British-Croatian community, and other distinguished guests. A reception was held at the venue following the concert.

The programme presented works by Croatian composers Josip Vallinger, Ivan Padovec, Frano Parać, Boris Papandopulo, Krešimir Baranović and Ivan pl. Zajc. Through these compositions, the audience also encountered poetry by Croatian poets Petar Preradović, Ivan Trnski, Ljudevit Vukotinović and Fran Galović, as well as verses by Gustav Jilly in two works performed in German.

The concert was warmly received and concluded with sustained applause from the audience.
