Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman met on Friday, 4 September 2026, with Slovenian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ton Kajzer, with whom he discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation, outstanding issues, as well as current European and foreign policy matters.
Grlić Radman stressed that Slovenia is one of Croatia’s most important partners and underscored the shared desire to further enhance bilateral relations. He highlighted in particular the strong people-to-people ties encompassing business communities, scientists and artists, minorities, as well as the close links between people living in the border areas.
Addressing outstanding issues, Grlić Radman reaffirmed Croatia’s readiness to resolve them through continued and intensified dialogue, stressing that they must not impede the further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
The interlocutors exchanged views on key European and foreign policy issues. Grlić Radman highlighted EU enlargement, noting that the stability of the Western Balkans is of paramount importance for the security and stability of Europe. In light of the complex geopolitical environment, they underscored the importance of continued exchanges of views and close cooperation between Croatia and Slovenia as neighbouring countries linked by shared interests and their membership of the EU and NATO.
The meeting also highlighted the successful cooperation between Croatia and Slovenia in trilateral formats with Italy and Austria, particularly in the areas of connectivity, energy, the economy and security.
“Croatia wants and is ready to continue building close and strong partnership relations with Slovenia. I firmly believe that through continuous dialogue, constructive proposals and initiatives, and a commitment to good-neighbourly relations, we can make our good cooperation even better,” Grlić Radman said.
As part of his visit to the Republic of Slovenia, Grlić Radman visited Iskra d.o.o., an excellent example of successful economic cooperation between Croatia and Slovenia and of the potential for further strengthening it. The Minister also laid a wreath at the monument to Ljudevit Gaj.
