Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman paid an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 9 July 2026, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
During their talks, the two ministers reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations between Croatia and Pakistan, founded on friendship, mutual respect and the absence of any outstanding political issues. They underlined that the strong political dialogue between the two countries provides a solid basis for further advancing cooperation in the fields of the economy, culture, science, tourism and sport.
Particular attention was devoted to strengthening economic cooperation. The ministers agreed on the need to step up cooperation in trade, agriculture, information technology and education. Minister Grlić Radman highlighted Croatia’s interest in increasing the presence of Croatian products, technologies and services on the Pakistani market. The two sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the defence industry.
The ministers also welcomed the strong cooperation between Croatia and Pakistan in multilateral fora. Minister Grlić Radman commended Pakistan’s active contribution to the work of the United Nations Security Council, particularly its efforts to promote dialogue, build consensus and address contemporary security challenges. He also underlined Pakistan’s importance as a partner of the European Union in the areas of migration, regional security and counter-terrorism.
During the visit, Minister Grlić Radman was received by the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and held talks with the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Yusuf Raza Gilani. The meetings reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relations and the shared commitment to further advancing cooperation, particularly in the fields of the economy and the defence industry.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on current regional and international issues, including the situation in the Middle East. Minister Grlić Radman welcomed Pakistan’s engagement aimed at de-escalating the crisis, promoting dialogue and contributing to regional stability.
At the conclusion of the visit, Minister Grlić Radman invited Minister Dar to pay an official visit to the Republic of Croatia.
