On the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia, the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Albania organized a formal reception in Tirana on 25 May 2026, gathering more than 150 guests.

The ceremony opened with the national anthems of the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Croatia, performed by soprano Egzona Bogdani, a final-year master’s student at the University of Arts in Tirana.

The guests were addressed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Albania, Academician Zlatko Kramarić, who emphasized that Croatia this year marks 35 years of statehood and independence, highlighting the country’s path from international recognition and the Homeland War to membership in NATO, the European Union, the euro area and the Schengen Area.

Speaking about relations between Croatia and Albania, Ambassador Kramarić underlined the strong friendship and partnership between the two countries, Croatia’s support for Albania on its European path, as well as the importance of stability in Southeast Europe. In particular, he stressed: “A stable, democratic and European-oriented Southeast Europe is not the periphery of Europe, but one of the preconditions for its security and future.”

In his speech, he also referred to current geopolitical challenges, the need to strengthen dialogue and international cooperation, and the importance of preserving European values and peace.

The reception was attended by representatives of Albanian institutions, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, religious communities, as well as representatives of cultural and economic life and numerous friends of Croatia in Albania.
