Meeting between Ambassador Dr Kušen and Mayor of Yongin Mr Lee Sang-il

Before the opening of the exhibition co-organised by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb and the Nam June Paik Art Centre in Yongin, Ambassador Dr Kušen had a meeting with the Mayor of Yongin Mr Lee Sang-il. Yongin is the fastest-growing city in Korea, with 1,1 million inhabitants and the status of “special city”, which grants it a higher degree of administrative autonomy. The Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is located there, with a section for the Croatian Language. Yongin is also the world’s largest “megacluster” for the manufacture of semiconductors. Apart from the above, the City invests a significant part of its budget in culture.
Mayor Lee and Ambassador Dr Kušen discussed a potential cooperation at the local level. Considering their attractiveness for tourism and rich cultural heritage, the Mayor shows an interest for Croatian cities, i.e. signing a memorandum on cooperation between Yongin and a Croatian city. On his part, Ambassador Dr Kušen welcomed the cooperation and emphasized that he was glad that the exhibition of Croatian contemporary artists was opening in Yongin. He also presented the great potential of Zadar as a possible city to collaborate with.
