On December 10, 2025, the official opening of the Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Mauritius was held in the city of Moka, headed by Honorary Consul Suket Naik. The opening ceremony, in addition to the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Ante Cicvarić, accompanied by his wife and Ms. Iris Jurić Marijanović, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in South Africa, was attended by numerous dignitaries of Mauritius, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr. Dhananjay Ramful, accompanied by Mr. Janmajaising Bissondoyal, Secretary General for Foreign Affairs. The opening ceremony of the Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in Mauritius began with the national anthems of Croatia and Mauritius, followed by an appropriate address by Honorary Consul Suket Naik, MFA Dhananjay Ramful, and Ambassador Cicvarić, and was followed by the opening ceremony with a symbolic ribbon cutting by MFA Ramful. In addition to high-ranking guests from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, the opening ceremony and reception were attended by numerous other representatives from diplomatic circles in the country, representatives of the EU DEL, the business community, the media, as well as numerous other honorary consuls in Mauritius.
The following day, on Thursday, 11 December, a meeting was organized with the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Dharambeer Gokhool, at the Presidential Palace, where the President, in a cordial conversation with Ambassador Cicvaric, expressed great satisfaction with the opening of the Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Mauritius.
The newly opened Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in Mauritius will certainly contribute to the further development and improvement of economic cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Mauritius. The opening of the honorary consulate represents a new opportunity to strengthen mutual cultural and sports cooperation, as well as an opportunity for a stronger positioning of the Republic of Croatia in this part of the world.
