Minister Grlić Radman attends international conference on migration, identity

Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman attended the third international scientific-expert conference, "Migration and Identity: Culture, Economy, State," on Monday, November 11, 2024. This two-day conference, held in Zagreb and organized by the Institute for Migration Research, focuses on systematic and continuous interdisciplinary monitoring of all forms of migration and population mobility.

In his opening remarks, Grlić Radman emphasized that migration has been a part of every nation’s history since ancient times, contributing to their continuous development up to the present day. He added that Croatia advocates for comprehensive and balanced migration policies and partnerships based on clear rules and shared responsibilities. While participating in the conference, the minister also congratulated the Institute on its 40th anniversary, highlighting that the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs will continue to actively support the Institute’s work through joint collaborations, projects, and events.

Over the course of the two-day conference, participants will engage in scientific panels and discussions covering key topics such as migration, diaspora, national identity, demographics, and the labour market, as well as national minorities and the Croatian national minority in European countries.
