Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman paid a working visit to the Republic of Serbia on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Grlić Radman met in Subotica with the President of the Democratic Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina and Minister in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Žigmanov, and the President of the Croatian National Council, Jasna Vojnić.
He emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Croatia will continue to provide strong support to our compatriots in Serbia through various projects. One of these projects is the Croatian Home Matica building, which was constructed with financial support from the Croatian government amounting to 2 million euros.
As part of the working visit, Grlić Radman also visited the kindergartens "Marija Petković - Sunčica" and "Anđeli čuvari," which are additional evidence of our commitment to the education of children, and the preservation of the Croatian language, culture, and heritage. Support for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia is one of our fundamental priorities, and the position of the Croatian minority in Serbia is of special interest to the Croatian government.
During the working visit to the Croatian community in Serbia, in Novi Sad, Grlić Radman met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić. The meeting was very constructive, with an emphasis on resolving outstanding bilateral issues. The ministers visited the birthplace of Ban Josip Jelačić in Petrovaradin.
This working visit confirms the policy of dialogue and partnership pursued by the Croatian government and the commitment to improving the position of Croats in the Republic of Serbia and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
