The Republic of Croatia, as an observer country of the Francophonie, is participating in the Film Festival of the Francophonie in Dublin this year. In cooperation with the Croatian Audiovisual Center, the Croatian film Aleksi, directed by Barbara Vekarić, will be screened at the festival.
Aleksi is a humorous drama about the adventures of the 28-year-old heroine from the film's title, who, by force of circumstances, returns to her family home and embarks on romantic adventures with several suitors, while waiting for the results of her admission to university abroad. Filmed on the picturesque wine roads and cellars of the Pelješac peninsula, this coming-of-age comedy looks back at new generations, and at the same time offers a fresh, modern variation on the genre motifs of popular island comedies. The film opened the Feature Film Festival in Pula, and the main roles are played by Tihana Lazović and Goran Marković.
The screening of the film is on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., at the Alliance Française Dublin, 1 Kildare Street, Dublin, D02TP94. The film is in Croatian language with English subtitles.
