State Secretary for Political Affairs Frano Matušić paid an official visit to Chile 18-22 November as a follow-up to the 10th political consultations held in September. He met with Secretary-General at the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodrigo Olsen, Providencia Mayor Evelyn Rose Matthei Fornet, and members of the Chamber of Deputies.

The large Croatian community in Chile was highlighted as a bridge connecting the two countries and offering potential for additional development of relations and cooperation. The officials signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in tourism.
Matušić also held talks with Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies Daniella Cicardini, Foreign Policy Committee led by Tomás de Rementería, and Interparliamentary Croatia-Chile Friendship Group, during which good cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries were underscored.
In addition, the state secretary met with representatives of the Croatian community and visited the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities of the University of Chile, which is expected to open a Croatian language department early next year.
