State Secretary for Europe Andreja Metelko-Zgombić on Thursday held talks with the UK Minister of State for Europe Leo Docherty.
The two officials underscored satisfaction with the very good bilateral relations between Croatia and the UK, as well as with the frequent bilateral contacts. In light of the Joint Statement on Bilateral Cooperation signed in April, Metelko-Zgombić and Docherty highlighted the possibility of enhancing cooperation in foreign policy, defense and security, high education, science, culture and public administration. They agreed there was potential to advance economic cooperation, including investment, technology sector and energy, and welcomed the large number of British tourists that had visited Croatia. Docherty underlined support for Croatia’s OECD accession.
Apart from bilateral topics, the two officials exchanged views on the EU-UK relations and topical EU matters such as the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Western Balkans.
