Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman met on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov.
The ministers expressed their mutual satisfaction with the good bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and the ADA University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
"The Republic of Croatia, as a member state of the European Union, strongly supports the European Union's cooperation with Azerbaijan through numerous agreements, as well as within the framework of the Eastern Partnership policy and dialogue within the European political community," Minister Grlić Radman pointed out.
At the same time, he emphasized that Croatia actively participated in the EU's efforts to achieve stability and normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He further said that our country, which itself experienced the challenges of war and successfully implemented peaceful reintegration, supported efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
"Regarding the development in the Lachin Corridor and the humanitarian situation, we believe that a solution will be found in order to improve the living conditions of the population there in accordance with the current efforts of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel," stressed Minister Grlić Radman.
Minister Bayramov pointed out that their liberated territories are contaminated with land mines and that Croatian experience in demining is of significant importance to them. "Experience, expertise and support from Croatia in the field of demining, reconstruction and reintegration is very useful," the minister emphasized.
