Talks took place today at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs with representatives of the families of the detained Dinamo Zagreb football club supporters, held by State Secretary for Europe Andreja Metelko-Zgombić.
Representatives of the fans’ families were informed about the consular and diplomatic support the Ministry has been providing to the detained Croatian nationals in cooperation with other competent Croatian authorities, with the aim of protecting their interests and rights in procedures before the competent Greek authorities and ensuring they are safe and treated appropriately, as well as provided with the necessary medical and other help.
Croatian diplomacy has been involved from day one, making sure the detention conditions of the Croatians placed in custody are appropriate and looking after their safety. Minister Gordan Grlić Radman has been in touch with his Greek counterpart Giorgos Gerapetritis, to whom he talked this morning, conveying concern of the detained supporters’ families and stressing the importance of their fair treatment.
