Croatian Society Founded in Lincolnshire

In Lincolnshire, a county in the east of England, the Lincolnshire Croatian Society was founded a year ago as a result of a spontaneous meeting between Croatian immigrants and Britons of Croatian origin. It is a small community of only twenty members. "Among our members are descendants of second and third generation Croatian immigrants who do not speak Croatian, as well as migrant workers who only recently arrived in the United Kingdom after Croatia's entry into the European Union. We also have several members who, despite not having Croatian ancestors, feel a strong connection with Croatia, its people, history and culture," said the president of the society Miklos Cseszneky, who has Croatian origins on his mother's side. Members hold meetings several times a year, most often in Spalding and Lincoln, and the temporary charge d'affaires Davor Ljubanović met with Mr. Cseszneky in Peterborough to learn more about organization and activities of the society. Croats in Lincolnshire also have their own website available at this link: Lincolnshire Croatian Society – Hrvatsko društvo Lincolnshire (wordpress.com)
