On Monday, May 29, 2023, a reception was held in the organization of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Pretoria on the occasion of Statehood Day and the 10th anniversary of Croatia's membership in the EU. The reception was held on the premises of the prestigious Pretoria Country Club, and was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps in Pretoria, prominent representatives of the Croatian emigrant community and numerous guests from public and political life in the Republic of South Africa.
About 150 guests from the diplomatic, political, and economic circles of the Republic of South Africa responded to the invitation of Ambassador Ante Cicvarić. Among the guests, we highlight the Ambassador of EU DEL in SA, HE Mrs Sandra Kramer, and almost all EU ambassadors in SA, the US Ambassador in SA, HE Mr. Reuben Brigety, and representatives from the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO). In the official part of the reception, after the performance of the national anthems of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of South Africa, and the appropriate address by Ambassador Ante Cicvarić and Mr. Shoayb Casoo, representative of DIRCO from the Directorate for Central and Eastern Europe, the Nordic and Baltic countries, there followed an informal part of the reception, where our famous guitarist virtuoso Petar Čulić gave a concert.
On the occasion of the reception, an exhibition of photographs by the author Nina Marcutti "Majestic Croatia" was set up, which attracted the attention of the guests at the reception with 30 photographs of the beauties of Croatia on display. This year's Statehood Day Reception in Pretoria can be regarded as another successful presentation of the Republic of Croatia on African soil.
