State Secretary for Political Affairs Frano Matušić on Tuesday in Paris attended the International Conference on Ukraine’s Civilian Resilience.
The goal of the conference, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, was to set up an additional assistance coordination mechanism to ensure efficient and timely support to Ukrainian population during winter, in priority areas such as energy, water, food, healthcare and transport.
Addressing the event, Matušić underscored that Croatia continued to show full support for and solidarity with Ukraine and its people. Currently, that means providing concrete aid to civilian population so that everyday life could go on with as little hindrance as possible. Croatia will therefore donate additional million euros to the UNICEF for 50 generators that are to provide electricity to schools and hospitals, said the state secretary.
In addition, Croatia’s knowledge and experience with mine action and humanitarian demining will be extremely useful as a precondition for post-war reconstruction and general socioeconomic growth. We continue to provide concrete support to Ukraine in that sense as well, Matušić said.
