State Secretary for Political Affairs Frano Matušić on Tuesday in Morocco attended the 9th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Global Forum themed “Towards an Alliance of Peace: Living Together as One Humanity”. The participants exchanged views on the additional strengthening of cooperation in combating terrorism, protecting minorities, fighting discrimination, strengthening the role of women and youth, and battling sexual violence. The forum saw the adoption of the Fez Declaration.
Addressing the event, Matušić highlighted Croatia’s activities aimed at reaching the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Our priorities include youth empowerment, education reform and digitalization, as well as strengthening the role of women and fighting sexual violence. Conclusively, he underlined the need to boost tolerance and interreligious ties, citing Croatia as a positive example of that, a country in which religious communities have excellent cooperation, both among themselves and with the state.
On the fringes of the forum, Matušić held bilateral talks with the Director General for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Expatriates, Fouad Yazourh. The two officials underscored good bilateral relations between Croatia and Morocco and discussed the prospects of additionally strengthening cooperation in bilateral and multilateral forums, notably by strengthening ties in economy, tourism and culture. They also exchanged views on regional and global matters.
