Conference of ambassadors, consuls general, military envoys

The two-day Conference of Croatian Ambassadors, Consuls General and Military Envoy was held 25-26 August 2022 in Zagreb. The keynote address on topical foreign policy matters and Croatia’s priorities was delivered by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, followed by an address by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman.
 
The conference started with presentations by President of the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović as a special guest, Interior Minister Davor Božinović, Security and Intelligence Agency Director Daniel Markić, and Military Security and Intelligence Agency Director Ivica Kinder. Deputy Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković addressed the working lunch.
 
The second part of the conference saw panel discussions involving heads of other ministries that deal with Croatia’s international goals, economy and economic diplomacy, as well as cooperation with Croats abroad.
 
Delivering presentations, among others, were Finance Minister Marko Primorac, Croatian National Bank Governor Boris Vujčić, and Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Davor Filipović.
 
The second day of the conference saw panels on public and cultural diplomacy. Head of the Central State Office for Croats Abroad Zvonko Milas and Chair of the Parliament Committee for Croats Abroad Zdravka Bušić spoke about including the Croatian diaspora into the economic life of Croatia as well as creating the conditions for their return and investment.
 
The conference was wrapped up by special guest, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who spoke about the current regional and global challenges, and reflected on the excellent bilateral relations and strong partnership between Croatia and Greece.
 
This annual event was an opportunity for a general discussion the challenges of Croatia’s diplomacy and deliberations on the priorities of Croatia’s foreign policy and foreign service.
